THE AGENDAS

                             George Butler

We as humankind have become divided into two major and distinct

groups. The first group the ABSOLUTISTS believe in traditional

values based upon the heterosexual family and believe that their

rights are GOD given. The second group the RELATIVISTS believe that

truth is relative so that man can and should create his own ethics

and moral system, thus the relativist's view posits that rights are

granted to us by other men.

Today these two philosophies are in confrontation. The second

group who believes that truth is relative, is led by N.O.W.

(National Organization of Women), Queer Nation, ACT UP and other

lesser known organizations. They are and have been openly hostile

to straights and people that stand for traditional values and

standards. These groups have certain major beliefs and agendas.

Such as: 1. The Gay and Lesbian rights movement 2. Sex education

guidelines as set out by S.I.E.C.U.S. (Sex Information Education

Committee of the United States) 3. Pro-Choice as exemplified by

Pro-Abortion Rights. These three issues continue to divide people.

The agenda of the Gay and Lesbian rights movement is founded on

the notion that their lifestyle should be protected and that as a

group they are being discriminated against. The Constitution

provides no such guarantee of sexual rights, it speaks instead

about civil rights. The Wall Street Journal on July 18, 1991, page

B1 reported U.S. Census 1988 data that shows the Average National

Homosexual income of $55,430 as compared to the National Average of

Normal families as $32,144. This shows that if homosexuals are

being discriminated against it certainly isn't hurting their

pocketbooks. These groups nevertheless believe that their sexual

rights should be protected much like the civil rights of minori-

ties. In seeking these so called special privilege rights they wish

to gain a greater share of power. So with greater power they can

impose their views on such groups as the Boy Scouts of America. The

Boy Scouts being a private organization has the right to establish

their own standards of admission and membership, but a vocal and

aggressive opposition continues to resent them for wanting to

remain a straight organization. Recently the Bank of America has

recanted their earlier decision to deny Boy Scout funding and now

has decided to continue the funding. The Boy Scouts should be left

alone.

SIECUS the sex education guidelines that is being promoted by

the Gay and Lesbian Rights groups, creates controversy wherever it

has been advanced. It contains several disturbing teachings. Three

examples follow as advocated to be taught to our children from

kindergarten to 8 years of age. 1. "A family consists of two or

more people who care for each other in many ways" 2. Masturbation

is alright 3. Abortion is O.K. The majority of people in polls

conducted across the country disagree with the above teachings.

Since non-discrimination has become an important goal in today's

society than Christian Morals as well as Gay Morals should not be

taught in our schools, for to teach only one lifestyle and moral

system is to discriminate against the other lifestyle and moral

system. In reality Gay Morals are being taught mixed into Sex

Education, Situation Ethics and the idea of tolerance. Instead Sex

Education should be the privy of parents and their children and

only relevant health information should be disseminated to our

school children.

The abortion issue has been converted from a life conception

issue into purely a women's rights issue. By recasting it into a

women's rights issue, than anyone in opposition to un-restricted

abortion is characterized as being against women's rights.

Another organization that is making material changes in our state

is APPAC an acronym for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Advisory

Council, this council is dedicated supposedly to high ideals but in

reality is carrying out activities that reflect a much more liberal

philosophy.

The philosophy of the RELATIVISTS seem to reflect an idea that

only the relativist view should be taught and that any teaching

that hints at or relates to any absolute views is ignored and

seldom taught. The bottom line is that the ABSOLUTISTS views

(traditional values) are in today schools being discriminated

against by not being taught while the relativist view (do your own

thing philosophy) is the only moral philosophy being taught. This

has not created more truth in our society but instead has seeded

into our society a greater doctrine of untruths.
