THE BUSH MOMENTUM IS WANING

Al Gore has moved up in most of the polls taken recently and George W. Bush seems to have lost the initiative. In addition a misspoken statement about two combat army divisions not being ready was incorrect information and opened Bush up to attack. The Democrats promptly criticized Bush for his incorrect statement. Bush had better get it together for Gore is on a roll and has plenty of help from a liberal press.

CHINA IN SUDAN

Today The Daily Telegraph is reporting from London that The Red Chinese have approximately 700,000 security personnel in Sudan protecting the oil fields from Christian Guerillas. The exact number of Chinese is only an estimate at this time and has not been fully verified. Oil production began approximately a year ago and this resource has re-ignited a long running civil war between Muslim and Christian forces. The Muslim faction has been buying Chinese munitions and bringing in Chinese security (soldiers) to protect the oil fields presently under the control of the Muslims. The U.N. has broken ties with the present regime and this new turn of events is dangerous for Africa much less the Middle East.

RUSSIAN SUBMARINE SINKS

Controversy is raging over the sinking of a Russia atomic submarine while on maneuvers. A Dagestan group is taking credit for the sinking alleging sabotage while other speculation is that an experimental torpedo mis-fired exploding and taking the submarine down. An addition reason put forward by the Russians is that their submarine collided with a foreign vessel. The Russians are still investigating the accident and we may never learn the real cause.
